58: What I do as a solo female traveller to get a free trip

May 23, 2019

After my recent trip to Dublin, I came home refreshed, recharged and ready for action...

Then I got an email from a couple who responded to an advert I posted 2 years ago... Yes 2 years ago, about house sitting and dog sitting!

It was one of the most amazing houses I've ever stayed in, and had 360 degree views of the English countryside. It was idyllic and the perfect getaway for a solo female traveller like me!

54: How to know if you’re making the right decision to go travelling

54: How to know if you’re making the right decision to go travelling

April 25, 2019

Actually making the decision to go travelling is huge. We start to talk ourselves out of going, with all the things that could go wrong. But what about all the things that will go right..?

I think we over think this and we become so stressed and overwhelmed that we procrastinate so much.

Take time to think about all the reasons why you want to go...

I wanted to go travelling and not have any regrets at the end of my life.

I wanted to be a story teller and tell people of the experiences that had actually happened to me. I love seeing the excitement that it brings to people. On that note...

48: Travelling somewhere new in my country

February 28, 2019

Don't have the time or finances to go travelling right now? Well, why not be a tourist in your home country? This is exactly what I did as a way of celebrating my birthday this month and taking a well deserved break.

What's been a very hectic and emotional start to 2019, I wanted to go travelling  but didn't want to go on a plane or go too far. So, I decided to travel about 5 hours to an island in the UK (yes we have some islands around the country) and see what travel was like in my home country.

47: What my boyfriend thinks of me travelling

47: What my boyfriend thinks of me travelling

January 24, 2019

Have you ever thought about what your boyfriend or loved ones think about you travelling? Nope me neither.

This episode is a recorded conversation between my boyfriend and I, on what he really thinks about me booking travel and just leaving the country at very short notice.

I've never really considered what my family and close friends think of me just leaving, and only telling them when I've left and I'm in the world.

I'm a solo female traveller who travels the world very freely. But after this honest conversation, I've changed how I approach my travel planning...

If you have a boyfriend or loved one that you're very close too, this may give you an insight into what they're thinking.

This episode was recorded in a noisy cafe, so apologies for all the background noise.

This episode is about;

My main reason for travel this year

This year is the first time that I've planned my travel goals so far in advanced and been this organised. I'm also changing my travel style this year as I’m travelling with my boyfriend. This will be the first time in 5 years, that I've travelled with a partner, so it’s going to be a challenge.

My mini travel goals this year as travelling to London, Dublin and a spontaneous trip to another country in Europe.

I’m still continuing with my long term goal of learning Spanish, in preparation of my travel plans of travelling Central America in 2020.

Gal Pal Travel Planning Bootcamp – help you plan your personalised travel itinerary

How to get started now;

Think about a destination that’s far away (long haul) – where would that be for you?

Then have some mini trips that are closed to your home

Take some time to think about where you really want to be this year

Pick somewhere that you’d really like to go. Or something you would really like to dos

I’m at the beginning of 2019 right now, wouldn’t it be great if ___________________ by the end of 2019.

By the end of 2019, I  _____________________________.

Nothing more rewarding than planning your own trip, being in the world and looking back realising that you did it. You put yourself in the world.

This travel episode is about;

Designing my own notebooks

Watching Sumo wrestlers in their morning practice

Cat café – really cool – good fun

Going to an onsen – really good for your skin and cleared up my mosquito bites

Sleeping on a futon was the best nights sleep I had from my entire trip in Japan

When I travel now, I choose what I want to do and don’t have to think of anyone else

If you’re travelling with someone else, its okay for you to go and do your own things and then come back together later on

Make sure you stop and take a break

Its very easy to get caught up in the travelling energy and keep moving

Take time for yourself, reflect on what you’ve already done and where you’re heading moving forward

Be the traveller that you want to be, this is your trip.

This episode is about:

Answering the question 'How to know if travelling is right for you?'
Travelling is right for everyone – Travelling is what you make of it.

Find out your travelling style

My travel style is a short term planner and going with the flow
Since I started travelling, so many and exciting opportunities have come to me

Travel is 100% about self-discovery

I learnt I’m really confident
I learnt that people liked me – this was a really silly belief that I had before I went travelling
I learnt to be really independent – I am the youngest child and was always
When I first went travelling it was so scary. But within a few days I became confident

Finding you style and what makes you feel good and what travelling means to you, that is what travelling is.

Self-discovery starts in the planning stages

Decide what type of traveller you want to be
Know what you like and don’t like
Remember you are on a journey. A journey of self-discovery

My tips on…

What to do on the plane that stops you getting jet lag

Adapt to the time zone that you’re flying too
Eat the foods in relation to the country you are flying to
Change your time as soon as possible to the destination you are flying to

Eat light food the entire journey – I try to avoid carbs or limit the amount I eat
No caffeine
Keep the biscuits / nut / cracker packs to have them later on in the flight
Relax, just chill and rest

I was able to adjust back to my life in the UK very quickly and not suffer from jet lag

In this episode I explain, that by making this mistake I ended up having an incredible time in Taiwan - the next part of my trip. I met some amazing travellers that proves...
